Update: Milwaukee Common Council Unanimously Approves TIF Agreement

The Milwaukee Common Council today unanimously approved the developer-funded tax incremental financing (TIF) proposal to support Northwestern Mutual’s new office tower downtown. The proposal will now move to the Joint Review Board for City of Milwaukee Tax Incremental Finance Districts and then to Mayor Tom Barrett, who has expressed enthusiasm in finalizing the agreement with his signature.
“This is truly a landmark opportunity to move downtown forward,” said Ald. Robert Bauman, whose district includes our Milwaukee campus.
“It’s like two grand slams in the same inning,” added Ald. Jim Bohl of the way the new tower will help spur further development via the Lakefront Gateway Project. “We’ll look back someday in the future at the growth that has come [due to this vote].”
