MILWAUKEE, WI, February 3, 2010 — For the second consecutive year, Northwestern Mutual has one of the best training programs in America, according to Training magazine’s 2010 “Training Top 125” list, which is featured in its February edition.   The honor recognizes the financial security company’s excellence in training and leadership development.

The annual survey of employer-sponsored training and leadership development programs is based on a variety of factors including financial commitment, training programs offered, workplace surveys and retention.

“Our training program is one of the very best in the nation, because we offer our field the development programs they need when they need them,” said Pency Byhardt, Northwestern Mutual vice president of field development.  “Targeted coursework is absolutely paramount at Northwestern Mutual because it helps financial representatives build the knowledge and skills required to address a wide variety of client financial security needs.”

One of the company’s newest development initiatives, the “Learning Path,” helps financial representatives identify courses and workshops that are best-suited for their experience level and the needs of their clients.

Representatives from Northwestern Mutual accepted the award at the Training 2010 Conference & Expo in San Diego on February 1.  The Training honor is one of many the company has earned for its commitment to career development.
