The Northwestern Mutual Foundation is announcing a $100,000 donation to the American Red Cross to help provide Haitians affected by a series of massive earthquakes with essential first aid relief including medical treatment and supplies, shelter, food and water.

"We recognize that the disaster in Haiti calls for a compassionate response from people and organizations that are able to help," said Edward J. Zore, Northwestern Mutual chairman and chief executive officer. "Supporting the American Red Cross allows us to have an immediate impact."

Northwestern Mutual is making it easy for its more than 7,000 financial representatives, 5,000 employees and 3.3 million policyowners to pledge personal donations to the American Red Cross on the company's corporate Web site, its Twitter page and its Facebook fan page.
