Worth magazine has named Northwestern Mutual as its "Editors' Choice" for life insurance in the July/August issue. Northwestern Mutual made the magazine's "A-list" in the life insurance category based on the company's highest possible financial ratings and industry-leading dividends to policyowners.
"Our success is rooted in the principle that we do what is in the best interest of our customers," says Edward J. Zore, president and chief executive officer. "We appreciate the editors at Worth noting our responsiveness to September 11 by paying related claims within a week of filing, even without a death certificate. Today more than ever, consumers want to do business with companies that are going to be there when they need them most."
A team of more than a dozen editors and reporters were commissioned to scout and test the best products and services -- from luxury cars to life insurance -- for the magazine's one million high net worth readers. This "Editors' Choice" list -- the first of its kind -- was determined after quizzing experts, testing services and reviewing previous readers' recommendations.
Worth noted Northwestern Mutual's rank as the country's largest individual life insurance provider and fiscal strength in its review. The magazine also highlighted the company's "well-trained dedicated sales agents," 8.6% dividend on whole life in 2002, and low mortality and lapse rates. Quality, value and service helped decide each of the category leaders.
Northwestern Mutual, the nation's leading provider of individual life insurance according to the American Council of Life Insurers, has always received the highest possible ratings for financial strength from Standard & Poor's, Moody's, Fitch and A.M. Best. In addition to life insurance, the company, its subsidiaries and affiliates are also providers of annuities, mutual funds, long-term care insurance and disability income insurance. These products and services are distributed through the Northwestern Mutual Financial Network and its 7,800 financial representatives. Among its affiliated companies are the Frank Russell Company, the investment management and advisory firm; Northwestern Mutual Investment Services, LLC (NMIS), the securities brokerage firm; and Northwestern Mutual Trust Company, a special purpose federal savings bank.
