The Northwestern Mutual Foundation announced today that they are donating $265,000 to 25 non-profit organizations across the U.S. through its national Community Service Award program. The annual competition, open to more than 9,000 representatives of the Northwestern Mutual Financial Network, recognizes exemplary volunteer involvement and dedication to charitable organizations and philanthropic projects.

Twenty-four "Outstanding Volunteers," are recognized and honored for their achievements with a grant of $10,000 to each organization they represent. One "Most Exceptional Volunteer" is named and awarded a $25,000 grant for their designated non-profit. (see list of winners)

"At Northwestern Mutual we believe being a responsible corporate citizen includes giving back to the communities where we do business," said Ed Zore, president and chief executive officer of Northwestern Mutual. "Our Community Service Award program helps us achieve two goals. We recognize our representatives for their community involvement and we help improve the quality of life in the communities our representatives serve."

Now in its 14th year, the Community Service Award program is open to more than 9,000 representatives of the Northwestern Mutual Financial Network and recognizes exemplary volunteer involvement and dedication to charitable organizations and philanthropic projects. Since its inception, more than $2.2 million has been contributed to over 200 non-profit organizations nationwide on behalf of Community Service Award winners.
