john schlifske

John E. Schlifske
Chairman and Chief Executive Officer


John E. Schlifske is Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Northwestern Mutual and a member of the company’s Board of Trustees. After joining Northwestern Mutual in 1987 as an Investment Specialist, Schlifske moved from portfolio manager to senior executive overseeing a variety of its investment operations. He later headed different parts of the company’s business operations.

President

Gregory C. Oberland is President of Northwestern Mutual and leads the company’s Agencies, Sales and Marketing Function. In this role, he is responsible for the company’s strategy of growing and enhancing its field force and delivering financial security to clients. Oberland joined Northwestern Mutual in 1982 as an attorney. Carter joined Northwestern Mutual in 1994 as a senior attorney in the law department. Senior Vice President – Insurance and Investment Products

As Senior Vice President – Insurance and Investment Products, John M. Grogan is responsible for the overall strategy and design of the company’s integrated suite of insurance and investment products. This includes overall leadership responsibility for the Life and Annuity Products, Disability Income, Long Term Care, and Product Finance departments, and for the Northwestern Mutual Wealth Management Company and Northwestern Mutual Investment Services. Grogan joined Northwestern Mutual as an attorney in 1992. He has a broad background as a company attorney, as well as agencies and product experience, including leading the Field Services and Support and Disability Income departments. He also served as Chief Executive Officer of the Northwestern Mutual Wealth Management Company during the financial crisis.

Elements of Success Study 2014

Northwestern Mutual sponsored an online study to examine U.S. adults’ perceptions of their personal, family, career and financial success. This study surveyed a random sample of 1,513 U.S. adults. Results were weighted as needed to parallel U.S. Census proportions for education, age, gender, race/ethnicity, region and household income.
