  • Investment Products Specialist

    Description:

    BASIC FUNCTION: This position will be responsible for supporting a variety of IPS product lines including Brokerage, Advisory, Trust and Private Client Services (PCS) and supports the execution of division strategy or plans for performance reporting.  Supports complex department and cross-departmental projects and tools designed to advance the sales and servicing of the product line; contributes to projects through planning, support, coordination and business integration.  Coordinates with core product line departments to address opportunities in the integration of the product line into a company-wide approach focused on meeting field and customer needs. Ensures regulatory compliance by working closely with Law and Compliance to ensure adherence to obligations required to conduct business, support programs and address Field practices.

     

    QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in business, marketing, finance, economics or related field preferred. Generally 3-5 years experience in financial services with emphasis in [securities products / advisory products / broker-dealer operations / investment adviser activities, etc.] preferred. Demonstrated ability to analyze issues: Including ability to gather relevant information systematically while considering a broad range of issues or factors. Demonstrated ability to innovate:  includes generation of new ideas, recognizing the need for new or modified approaches, bringing perspectives and approaches together and combining them in creative ways. Demonstrated ability of establishing and managing relationships with: internal personnel at various levels of the organization, external field force and third party vendors. Strong organizational and follow-through skills, with ability to work within deadlines, prioritize work, and multi-task. Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to negotiate skillfully in difficult situations at all levels within the organization and with the external field force.   Including the ability to present information and ideas clearly in both groups and one-on-one, demonstrated ability to prepare and effectively deliver detailed information and ideas through clear and smooth formal presentations as well as effectively in written format.

  • IT Access Management Program Manager

    Description:

    BASIC FUNCTION:  As Risk Management Consultant, you establish and optimize risks and controls, accountable for consulting and advising on large, complex and, often, ambiguous issues related to Identity and Access Management (IAM) process and controls.  As a leader and subject matter expert for IAM processes, you will:be engaged with information protection policies/standards; design/evaluate processes/controls to enable compliance with IAM policies; evaluate and approve deviations to information protection policies; promote information protection awareness through training activities; evaluate and make decisions on noncompliance issues; lead, coach, and mentor NML staff on the information risk management program, including specific processes intended to ensure consistency and quality.   • Investment Accounting Partner Specialist

    Description:

    BASIC FUNCTION:   The incumbent performs financial accounting and reporting for partnership investments held by Northwestern Mutual and related subsidiaries on a Statutory and GAAP basis.  This includes preparation of accurate financial reports for use by the Controller’s Department, Investment Departments, external auditors, industry and various government agencies.  Reporting on investment activity includes daily, monthly, quarterly and annual cycles.  This position is also responsible for the accurate and timely gathering and input of key information used in the financial processing routines of the investment systems in recording the assets, income, and gains and losses of Northwestern Mutual and related entities to ensure that proper Statutory and GAAP principles are applied.   Additional responsibilities include executing internal controls for partnership investments in accordance with Model Audit Rule standards and partnering with Treasury and Investment Operations for the purpose of resolving routine accounting matters to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.

    QUALIFICATIONS:  Bachelor’s degree in accounting required with 0 – 3 years work experience.  A working knowledge of accounting principles and practices related to investment products, demonstrated decision making, and analytical skills.  Strong written and oral communication skills.  Also, this position requires an ability to effectively maintain relations within subgroups in Investment Accounting, divisions within Controllers, Treasury and Investment Operations, Legal and other company departments as needed.  A high degree of personal initiative and self-motivation is required.  This position has been classified as an MSA Access Person which is subject to the Personal Trading Policy and the employee will be required to maintain any brokerage accounts with one of MSA’s approved brokers.  Desirable qualifications:  Certified Public Accountant (CPA) preferred or working toward CPA designation.  Proficiency in Microsoft applications, specifically Excel, experience in NVision and PeopleSoft applications. Ability to multi-task responsibilities to meet tight deadlines of deliverables with accurate results.
