    NM's Enterprise Monitoring System Administration team operates in a highly dynamic environment, supporting application, infrastructure, and security monitoring systems that are foundational to ensuring the availability and performance needs of the business.

    THE CHALLENGE:

    This position fulfills a critical role in the support and maintenance of the Enterprise Monitoring applications for Predictive Analytics with Netuitive.  Strong administration and problem solving skills coupled with engineering skills that sustain high performance and availability of the monitoring are essential to this role.

    The Monitoring System Administrator is accountable for providing functional analysis, coordination and oversight for problem resolution and day to day support of the monitoring applications including short and long term planning, health checks, software and hardware patching, capacity planning, security, performance analysis, and tuning as it relates to day-to-day operations in order to maintain performance and availability of the infrastructure. The successful System Administrator is responsible for using best practices and knowledge of internal or external business needs to improve and meet service level expectations and to deliver services by meeting the strategic objectives of the organization including service management, risk management and project delivery transition management. The position will be not only a technical expert but will be recognized as a thought leader, with a broad knowledge of how technology impacts business applications.

    WHAT’S REQUIRED?

    • Bachelors Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems or related field, or an equivalent combination of education and work experience.
    • At least four (4) year experience in application administration or monitoring systems administration.
    • Development/programming experience in Java is desirable.
    • Demonstrated knowledge of ITIL foundations.
    • Demonstrated knowledge of Windows, UNIX, and Linux infrastructure components; Active Directory, Exchange, DNS, DHCP, File Permissions.
    • Demonstrated knowledge of SNMP polling and traps.
    • Experience with syslog and Windows event log.
    • Demonstrated knowledge of the operating system and applications.
    • Demonstrated knowledge of memory and CPU utilization, network and disk I/O, inter-process communications, and network file systems.
    • Ability to set priorities for scope, risk and quality of technology solutions to meet business needs. 
    • Experience working with change management systems and coordinating deployments involving cross-project interdependencies.
    • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work effectively with team members, other technology and business areas, and external clients. Ability to effectively communicate issues and solutions across all levels of the organization.

    Basic Function: The Lean Improvement Coach partners with senior staff to lead process improvement efforts across multiple operational teams at Northwestern Mutual.  The focus of these improvement efforts is to eliminate non-value-added activities to improve the customer experience, engage employees in improving their work, and achieve improvement goals for the organization.  The Lean Improvement Coach will partner in leading Rapid Improvement (i.e. Kaizen) Events, map and document workflows, observe and time work tasks, capture and analyze metrics, and perform additional analysis and facilitation to achieve objectives.  The Lean Improvement Coach will partner with senior staff to influence, coach, and mentor individuals at various levels in the organization to achieve results and promote and sustain the transformation to a process improvement culture. 

    Qualifications: Minimum of 4 years of work experience, including 2 years of process improvement experience.   Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience and Lean or Six Sigma Green Belt Certification or equivalent experience.   Demonstrated proficiency in lean process improvement efforts, including data and process analysis skills.   Demonstrated experience delivering sustainable results and contributing to process improvement efforts.  Prior experience coaching and mentoring others, particularly in process improvement tools and techniques.  Ability to effectively communicate and influence staff and front line leadership to increase engagement and understanding of Business Process Improvement processes, goals, and benefits.   Experience in implementing roll out efforts and authoring and publishing quality technical documentation (in disciplines including but not limited to process improvement) to ensure sustainability of the Business Process Improvement program and individual efforts.

  • Leadership Development Program Manager

    Description:

    QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor’s degree in Organizational Development, Human Resources management, Education, or related field, or equivalent work experience. Minimum of five years’ experience in the areas of management and leadership development, organization development, group facilitation, training and training design. Experience in a business environment with the practical application of key leadership development, organization development and adult learning theories and models. Proven ability in competency modeling, strategic problem solving, negotiation, and team building. Proven ability to be responsive to changing business needs, manage and prioritize concurrent assignments, and handle ambiguity. Independently lead and execute complex departmental and cross departmental projects; support assignments with responsibility for managing scope, risk, business value, timeline, and budget. Written and oral communications skills with demonstrated ability to communicate technical information and concepts to clients with tact and diplomacy.

    DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS: Master’s Degree in related discipline. Experience working with the NM field force and familiarity with NM risk and investment products. Presentation and/or facilitator led training experienced. Experience leading large learning events. Relevant certifications and associations.
