TOMS Shoes' “one-for-one” business philosophy is simple: Buy a product and the company will help someone in need. The company started with shoes—buy a pair and a child in need would get a pair. TOMS has expanded its products to eyewear, bags, apparel and even coffee, which in turn has expanded how it can help others. Clean drinking water, eye surgeries and safer births have all become part of its one-for-one promise.
