Personal
Andrew Soles is married to Samantha and together they have five children. Andrew grew up in Arlington, VA. On weekends Andrew and his family enjoy coaching their kids sports teams, bicycling, Arlington parks, and gardening at home and working at their family farm in Lexington VA.
As a canoe and kayak racer, Andrew competed in many national and international regattas, including multiple wins in both the Texas water safari and at the Dragon Boat World Championship races. Andrew is the president of the Washington Canoe Club, a 112 year old paddling club on the Potomac River. Andrew is an Eagle Scout and continues to serve as a volunteer Scout leader.
Professional
Andrew has always been passionate about the importance of establishing goals and aligning spending, saving, and investing with them. Andrew helps families optimize tradeoffs that do not always have a quantitative solution, such as between saving versus spending, or tax savings today versus tax advantaged withdrawls 20+ years into their future.
Andrew is proud of the diversity of his financial planning clientele, including LGBT families, international and multi-ethnic households, and individual professionals from the legal, medical and government relations, military and development sector. Andrew works with career federal government employees as well as those who move between the private and public sectors throughout their working years and must balance different benefit plans.
Before beginning his personal financial planning practice, Andrew spent 20 years in the environmental and development sector, working with conservationists, government officials, and the private sector in over 25 countries to create effective and financially sustainable conservation outcomes. Andrew was a Peace Corps volunteer in Guatemala.
Andrew graduated Magna Cum Laude from Mary Washington College in 1995 with a BS degree in Business Administration and Environmental Science. Andrew speaks fluent Spanish.

How Northwestern Mutual helps you live the life you want.
When people feel better about their money, good things happen—they become more confident and feel more secure. For more than 160 years, Northwestern Mutual has helped people achieve the financial flexibility they need to live more and worry less.
Being a mutual company means Northwestern Mutual reports to its clients, not Wall Street. They don't believe in chasing fads or taking undue risk for short-term gains. Instead, they take a long-term approach—both in the way we help people plan to reach their goals, and in the way they do business. This has served their clients (and mine) well through all kinds of economic ups and downs, including wars, recessions, even the recent pandemic.
It's why I'm happy to be part of a company that's in it for the long-haul and prioritizes clients over profit.
