Background
Braelin is from the Upper Valley in New Hampshire. She attended Alfred University for undergrad and received her MBA from Union College. Prior to beginning her business as a wealth management advisor in 2012, she had 7 years of experience in financial services at Goldman Sachs. Braelin’s skills, values and expertise enables her to define and help achieve her clients’ vision of a secure financial future. Braelin grew up with financial discussions in the forefront. Discussions around finances were the norm for Braelin as a child. Her father was a business owner, and financial and efficient tax strategy was frequently discussed. It was always an honest and open conversation and she quickly understood that finances were not a topic most were conversing about in similar depth. She is very aware everyone has a different relationship with money and finances. Now, Braelin prides herself on sharing those personal experiences, educating on finances, and helping people have a positive healthy relationship with money. Finances can carry emotion and the education around finances is extremely powerful. She has a passion around educating, legacy, efficient tax strategy, and believes discipline equals freedom across the board.
When Braelin was 14 years old, her parents gave her a choice of going to summer camp or getting a job. The catch was that she would have to find the job on her own and the transportation to get there. But if she did, they would match what she put into her Roth IRA dollar for dollar. So, she rode her bike to a local tomato farm. She didn’t fit the profile of a tomato picker, and in fact, she was afraid of snakes and heights (and those tomato plants were tall). She ended up making $6,000 that summer. At that time, the Roth limit was $4,000. Braelin contributed $2,000 and her parents matched it as promised. That determination and discipline is just one example of the framework for which she derived her work ethic and love for the work she does today.
Approach
Braelin works with clients to help them define their vision of a secure financial future. She also takes pride in quality over quantity. It may sound cliché, but she says mindset determines everything. She finds greater success with clients who truly want to devote the time and energy into securing their financial future.
Braelin is extremely disciplined, loyal and cares immensely about her clients and their futures. She has a passion for the work they do for their clients. Braelin views the strategic puzzle of a client’s life and their goals as a 3-D chess game involving efficient tax strategy, estate planning, vast investment knowledge, a team that prides themselves on service and thinking outside the box. Braelin and her team at Thornton Wealth Management are well versed in holistic planning and they pride themselves on providing a personal and specialized approach for every client’s unique situation. It is like training for an Ironman, it isn’t just the miles you put on the bike or running or in the pool training; but the outside conditions, nutrition, mindset, change conditions race day, visualization, other participants. Each plan is different, and we build in strategies to adapt to the changes in life. Braelin says once you have an individualized financial strategy to hit your goals, your life is yours to truly live. She calls it deliberate life by design. Her goal – to help educate and navigate the financial landscape with her clients so they can live a balanced, thriving life while being deliberate.
