Professional

I chose the path of a financial advisor because I learned about my family's financial struggles due to a lack of planning for the future and I was determined to improve not only our situation, but other families lives as well. What fulfills me the most in this profession is meeting new people and understanding their goals and priorities as well as their fears and struggles. Being able to build a personalized financial plan and communicate solutions for each unique situation is extremely rewarding. My career has been significantly shaped by Drexall Dixon and other mentors who instilled in me the values of honesty, loyalty, and respect. These values guide me in serving my clients with a direct approach and strong belief in planning for the future while enjoying the present. My aspiration as a financial advisor is to build a team of like-minded and forward-thinking professionals to partner with successful families and businesses, aiming to give clients confidence in their financial future by planning wisely today. Ultimately, my 'why' is about being the trusted source of information and accountability for my clients that my family always needed, and this drives every interaction and decision I make in my profession.

Corbin T. Watson is proud to serve as a financial advisor with the Northwestern Mutual Wealth Management Company (NMWMC) and as a registered representative of Northwestern Mutual Investment Services (NMIS).

Personal

I grew up in Eden, North Carolina, where I graduated from John M. Morehead High School in 2016. I went off to Lenoir-Rhyne University from 2016 to 2020, where I studied Finance and played baseball for four years. While living in Hickory, NC, I attended Discovery Church and have continued to enjoy the worship and sermons online despite relocating to Reidsville, NC.

I began my career with Northwestern Mutual in May, 2019 after being introduced to the college internship program from whom I consider a great friend and mentor today, Drexall Dixon. I remained in the internship program throughout my senior year of college and achieved PaceMaker status as a College Representative. I converted to a full-time Financial Advisor role in August of 2020 to begin growing my financial planning practice. In January of 2023, I completed the Retirement Income Certified Professional curriculum through the American College of Financial Services, to be recognized as an expert in retirement income planning. My team and I are focused on growing the firm by partnering with clients who desire a plan that guides them to and through retirement successfully.  We are committed to providing a level of service and client experience that is unmatched in the industry.

Outside of the office, I have many hobbies including shooting/hunting, golf, snowboarding, exercising, traveling and watching sports.

How Northwestern Mutual helps you live the life you want.

When people feel better about their money, good things happen—they become more confident and feel more secure. For more than 160 years, Northwestern Mutual has helped people achieve the financial flexibility they need to live more and worry less.

Being a mutual company means Northwestern Mutual reports to its clients, not Wall Street. They don't believe in chasing fads or taking undue risk for short-term gains. Instead, they take a long-term approach—both in the way we help people plan to reach their goals, and in the way they do business. This has served their clients (and mine) well through all kinds of economic ups and downs, including wars, recessions, even the recent pandemic.

It's why I'm happy to be part of a company that's in it for the long-haul and prioritizes clients over profit.
