Greater Twin Cities United Way
We exist to fuel lasting change that will help us achieve our vision of a community where all people thrive regardless of income, race or place. By thoughtfully and intentionally investing in solutions that address household stability, educational success and economic opportunity, we can make a lasting and transformative impact throughout the Greater Twin Cities. Derek is an active member of United Way Emerging Leaders and leverages the organization's community impact activities as team building opportunities with new Financial Advisors.
M Health Fairview Masonic Children's Hospital
Northwestern Mutual is a proud partner of University of Minnesota Masonic Children’s Hospital, bringing hope and healing to our patients and families through a commitment to supporting children’s health in our community and beyond. In 2018, our organization pledged $1 Million to the Hospital, designating portions of the gift to programming, emergency assistance, hospital events, and their Child-Family Life specialist program. Derek is an active participant in our Champions for Children and Chip for Charity golf tournaments we sponsor yearly to benefit Masonic as well.
Leukemia & Lymphoma Society
LLS is at the forefront of the fight to cure cancer. Compared to other blood cancer nonprofits, LLS is the largest funder of cutting-edge research to advance cures. As the leading source of free blood cancer information, education and support for patients, survivors, families and healthcare professionals, LLS helps patients navigate their cancer treatment and ensures they have access to quality, affordable and coordinated care. Derek has been an active participant in the LLS Big Climb over the years with fundraising efforts and participating in the climb itself. In April 2023, he made the trek throughout U.S. Bank stadium, and helped raise over $26,000 for the Northwestern Mutual-Minneapolis team!
Alex's Lemonade Stand Foundation for Childhood Cancer (ALSF)
ALSF funds cancer research, raises awareness, and supports the families of children with cancer. Since 2012, Northwestern Mutual, its employees, and financial professionals like me have donated more than $20 million to support ALSF and fund over 400,000 research hours.
