“To what end?”

It is a great question when applied to our action and our choices. 

Financial security is a wonderful thing that many people strive to attain, but you could ask the question… to what end? 

People may answer that question in different ways but ultimately, most of the answers boil down to the idea of liberty.  Financial security creates an independence or freedom to be docile in our choices.  It allows us to be able to live life abundantly, unrestricted, and free to choose.

Freedom is a beautiful thing, but we may ask the question again.  Freedom…to what end? 

Karol Wojtyla famously said “Freedom consists not of doing what we like, but in having the right to do what we ought.”

Each individual has different gifts to give to the world.  By gaining clarity on our gifts and ultimately our purpose, we can then orient our actions intentionally beginning with the end in mind. 

If you were to build a house, you wouldn’t buy all the materials and then put a blueprint together.  You would begin with a blueprint and then work backwards.  Likewise with a well-crafted financial plan we should look to our purpose so then we can create a plan with the greatest efficiency, with the least tax, addressing all potential risks and leaving no boxes unchecked.
