Get to Know Erik

Erik Gomez has been part of Northwestern Mutual, Irvine since 2005. He started directly out of college as a graduate from California State University, Long Beach, where he earned his Bachelor of Science in Business Management and Finance. He finds his passion in working with individuals and helping them to protect what is most important to them and the risks that come along with it. In his time with Northwestern Mutual he has been held various leadership roles in the office, helping to train, manage, and mentor other representatives. While that experience was invaluable, he realized his greatest value comes from connecting with high-performing professional families and business owners.

Erik and his family live in North Orange County. When he's not in the Irvine office or in front of clients; he enjoys being in the outdoors with his kids, traveling and working out.

Professional Experience

Erik Gomez is Principal of EG Wealth Management and Insurance Services and a Certified Financial Planner ® who works with two distinct groups of people: Law Enforcement Officers and those within 5 years of retirement, or what can be referred to as the “Retirement Redzone.”

Erik and his team help these groups move beyond tactical, linear thinking to strategic approaches to creating, preserving and distributing all that they have worked tirelessly to accumulate. Working in his self-made grandfather’s machine shop as a child, Erik learned the meaning of hard work, the value of money, and the benefits of building trusting relationships. Financial planning is a complex topic, but Erik believes it doesn’t have to be complicated or daunting.

Erik has worked to make the reality of financial planning approachable, simple, and understandable, leaving EG Wealth Management’s clients feeling optimistic and inspired by what the future has in store for them. The best part of Erik’s job is hearing comments from clients about how their experience with EG has been starkly different from their relationships with other financial planners. As a fiduciary, it is his goal to make every client feel taken care of and to exceed their expectations by going above and beyond what is expected.

Erik is investment registered and insurance licensed in states from coast to coast, giving EG Wealth Management and Insurance Services a national footprint. Erik and his team have been named one of the top financial practices within Northwestern Mutual, top five diverse advisors in the country, and top advisor in his office in Irvine two years in a row. He has been named as Forbes Best in State Top Financial Professional for three years in a row. Erik holds bachelor’s degrees in Business Management and Business Finance with an emphasis on Real Estate and Law from California State University, Long Beach.

Lending a hand in our community.

As part of Northwestern Mutual, I'm proud to help accelerate the search for better childhood cancer treatments while supporting families undergoing treatment, and survivors from late effects. Here are some of the organizations we partner with:

Alex's Lemonade Stand Foundation for Childhood Cancer (ALSF)

ALSF funds cancer research, raises awareness, and supports the families of children with cancer. Since 2012, Northwestern Mutual, its employees, and financial professionals like me have donated more than $20 million to support ALSF and fund over 400,000 research hours.

How Northwestern Mutual helps you live the life you want.

When people feel better about their money, good things happen—they become more confident and feel more secure. For more than 160 years, Northwestern Mutual has helped people achieve the financial flexibility they need to live more and worry less.

Being a mutual company means Northwestern Mutual reports to its clients, not Wall Street. They don't believe in chasing fads or taking undue risk for short-term gains. Instead, they take a long-term approach—both in the way we help people plan to reach their goals, and in the way they do business. This has served their clients (and mine) well through all kinds of economic ups and downs, including wars, recessions, even the recent pandemic.

It's why I'm happy to be part of a company that's in it for the long-haul and prioritizes clients over profit.
