Personal & Professional

Jason is a lifetime resident of the Brainerd Lakes Area. After graduating from Minnesota State University Moorhead (MSUM) with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Speech Communications, Jason began his career with Northwestern Mutual in 1999. Jason married his wife, Jill, in September 2005 and they reside in Baxter, MN. Jill works alongside Jason at his practice and at home raising their three sons, Reese, Layne, and Vance.

Jason enjoys spending time with his family and wrestling with his boys. He is passionate about all things football—Fantasy Football, the NFL draft, and the Minnesota Vikings—and also all things food—cooking, trying his wife’s new recipes, and dining out with friends. He also spends time hunting mushrooms, boating, swimming, reading, fishing, and coaching sports for his boys.

In 2013, Jason and Jill's middle child, Layne, was diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder and later, dyslexia. The couple's first-hand experience in the special needs world inspired Jason to pursue his Chartered Special Needs Consultant (ChSNC®) designation. More than ever, Jason believes that financial security should be inclusive of all families and more and more opportunities are available now with special needs planning.

Jason’s favorite part about working for Northwestern Mutual is his relationships with his clients. From successful business owners to young professionals to generations of families, “I get to know tons of people on an intimate basis that normally I wouldn’t have met.” His interest in a career with Northwestern Mutual was sparked by a conversation he had with his late father back in 1999. His dad, a veteran salesman, advised him that there would always be a need for financial security.

As a Financial Advisor, Jason is committed to helping you get closer to your dreams.

Lending a hand in my community.

As part of Northwestern Mutual, I'm proud to help accelerate the search for better childhood cancer treatments while supporting families undergoing treatment, and survivors from late effects. Here are some of the organizations we partner with:

Alex's Lemonade Stand Foundation for Childhood Cancer (ALSF)

ALSF funds cancer research, raises awareness, and supports the families of children with cancer. Since 2012, Northwestern Mutual, its employees, and financial professionals like me have donated more than $20 million to support ALSF and fund over 400,000 research hours.
