Professional

As an engineer in college, I was trained that every problem has a solution. As a fourth-generation businessman from an entrepreneurial family, I was taught that the true essence of work is to do a good and fair job for clients. With these lessons in mind, I succeed by following my family’s motto: “Whatever It Takes!”

As President of my family’s wholesale hardware business, Eveready Hardware, I modernized, grew, and when it was time, sold it to a public company. After ensuring a smooth transition, I took some time to consider my next career move. I realized how much I could contribute to helping people solve everyday problems and am now proud to be among the world’s strongest financial services firm. I strengthen my clients by supporting them, planning for them, and helping them identify and reach their financial goals. To me, each client is essentially an important member of my family.  Each client is also a member of the greater Northwestern Mutual family, with a relationship intended to endure across generations, and stand the test of time.

Helping with finances, retirement, and estate planning calls on my entire life experience and NM’s successful strategies. I use my quantitative background when I work with my team in investigating insurance policies and studying annuity streams to develop viable wealth management tactics.

Along with a personalized plan for success, I am with my clients every step of the way providing individual guidance in navigating it. My clients appreciate that in our close, candid, confidential and communicative relationship, they are my priority.

It is necessary to have a qualified plan and a solid strategy to protect your assets and future. I provide a complementary and confidential review of your assets and help you with your future financial health. If you have any money-based questions, concerns, or dreams, I welcome your call at (347)-723-7428, or e-mail at

I look forward to being of service.

Mission

Before we can speak intelligently about the products and services that might be appropriate for you, your family, or your business, I need to understand your journey. This requires an honest conversation and understanding about your objectives, the past experiences you have had around financial planning, and the story behind what money means to you. Before you can feel comfortable sharing your goals and dreams with me, it’s important to know a little about me.

Besides a trusted financial advisor, I also aim to be a true friend, traditional family man, and tremendous advocate for community causes. But these don’t all feel like separate endeavors because the secret to them all is the same: Doing whatever it takes…to help! I believe that making life better for someone means getting them from where they are, to where they want to be. And my goal is to support others in reaching theirs. The values I bring to all of these professional and personal pursuits are simple: To do things that are good. To be good at what I do. And to be a good partner in doing them.

Awards and Recognition

Team Taylor was the second team in firm history to make both the “Top 10 Eastern Regional” and “Top 50 Awards Year” lists, two years in a row.

Jon is a “2023 Lives Leader” which recognizes him as a highly motivated financial representative whose practice is sustaining growth at a consistently high level.

Million Dollar Round Table Qualifying Member 2021-2025

The Million Dollar Round Table (MDRT) is a global, independent association for the world's leading life insurance and financial services professionals. MDRT membership is recognized internationally as the standard of excellence in business and is the premier association of financial professionals. In additional to the work he does to help his clients, Jon also dedicates time to make Northwestern Mutual a better place to work. He sits on multiple committees which aim to help better systems and tools for his peers, mentees, and teams. Here are some of the ways Jon is involved at a corporate level:

  • Male Ally Sub-Committee Vice-Chair of the Women's Field Association of Northwestern Mutual's Board of Directors

  • Invited speaker at the 275th Fastrack Academy, the highest educational symposium at NM for new financial reps who are seen as future leaders of the company

Lending a hand in my community.

As part of Northwestern Mutual, I'm proud to help accelerate the search for better childhood cancer treatments while supporting families undergoing treatment, and survivors dealing with related effects. Here are some of the organizations we partner with:

Alex's Lemonade Stand Foundation for Childhood Cancer (ALSF)

ALSF funds cancer research, raises awareness, and supports the families of children with cancer. Since 2012, Northwestern Mutual, its employees, and financial professionals like me have donated more than $20 million to support ALSF and fund over 400,000 research hours.

Special Olympics New York

With its roots in the 1960s, Special Olympics and its mission of inclusion is as just as invaluable and inspirational today. Founded as a summer camp for children with special needs, it has grown into an international organization known for its eponymous signature athletic event. Every two years, Special Olympics brings dedicated, brave, and talented Special Olympians together from every corner of the world. But its important work continues every day, and everywhere that there are people with intellectual disabilities who are ready to have their gifts recognized. Through the magic of athletic competition, Special Olympics helps its participants realize that even though not everybody wins, everybody can be a winner!

How Northwestern Mutual helps you live the life you want.

When people feel better about their money, good things happen—they become more confident and feel more secure. For more than 160 years, Northwestern Mutual has helped people achieve the financial flexibility they need to live more and worry less.

Being a mutual company means Northwestern Mutual reports to clients, not Wall Street. We don't believe in chasing fads or taking undue risk for short-term gains. Instead, we take a long-term approach—both in the way we help people plan to reach their goals, and in the way we do business. This has served our clients well through all kinds of economic ups and downs, including wars, recessions, and even the recent pandemic.

It's why I'm happy to be part of a company that's in it for the long-haul and prioritizes clients over profit.

Personal

When I worked in my family’s business, I learned early that being of service starts with understanding someone’s goals. Because, once those are clear we can then get to the real work of meeting their needs. By bringing these lessons to everything I do, I’m able to help people clarify what they want, while also showing them how to get it. Sometimes it involves expanding their perspective, and other times reducing their fears--but in every case I work with my teammates to create pathways for my clients’ success.

It’s well known where to look for success; it’s in the details! Which makes me thankful that I was originally trained as an engineer, and that this concept is still a part of me. So instead of creating electrical control panels and checking circuits, I’m now creating plans so others can gain control of their financial futures. Through this I share the lesson I learned long ago--that getting the big job done means getting the little things right.

As a huge fan of puzzles and competitions, I couldn’t help but sign up for “Adventure Hunt 2017”, New York City’s local version of the popular TV Show “The Amazing Race.” Before this event I got ready to encounter clues, solve brainteasers, and do someTHING amazing. But little did I know that on that day I would actually find someONE amazing! Elizabeth Taylor started as my competitor, then my reluctant partner in the race…and we are now dedicated partners as husband and wife!

We live in the Lower East Side of Manhattan with our two cats, Cheesy and Crunchy (who yes, were named after some of our favorite fast foods!) Together, Lizzie and I share our passion for bicycling, traveling, being foodies, and making hook latch rugs. We also like to challenge ourselves…with brain teasers of course!

The reason I’m grateful for every day is that I’m doing the things I was meant to do. The passion and joy I bring to my endeavors is fueled by the people I do them with--my clients, colleagues, and collaborators, all of whom I consider my family. And because I am helping others achieve their dreams, I know that I am living mine!

Giving back is an honor and a privilege!

For this effort, we raised $105,835 for Alex's Lemonade Stand Foundation. $87,000 from the Live Auction, and $18,835 from my station, the Silent Auction.

Even though we fell just short of our $20,000 record from last year's Silent Auction, I am still proud of the work we did to find a cure.

It was an honor and a privilege to volunteer to support such a great organization and represent Northwestern Mutual - NYC Midtown.

I look forward to participating again next year and continuing to make a difference and impact.

Providing help when it's needed most!

#InMyScrubs

We're a bunch of New Yorkers who couldn't stomach watching our local health care system become overrun by Covid-19 cases, from the screens of our phones. It was clear members of the community weren't taking the pandemic seriously, because from our respective windows in Lower East Side, Tribeca and Clinton Hill, the streets were still filled with people. We wanted to change that. It was time to activate our quarantine crew through digital means and do our part to spread the message of sheltering in place, and support our health care workers on the the front lines. We wanted to find a way to support hospitals and local restaurants, which is how we developed the #InMyScrubs campaign.

Up for the challenge! Supporting hospitals and local restaurants!

I was inspired by one of my mentors, Chris Marshall, to help towards the effort of fighting the Coronavirus other than just #StayHome, by participating with #InMyScrubs.

Formed by a bunch of New Yorkers who couldn't stomach watching our local health care system become overrun by Covid-19 cases, we wanted to find a way to support hospitals and local restaurants.

'THANK YOU' to my friend, Hannah Weiss, for being on the front lines at the Maria Fareri Children's Hospital, a member of the WMCHealth Network, and for helping me to get dinner to our health care workers!
