Family Upbringing Teaches Life Long Lessons

My grandfather was a tough businessman who taught me to never give up...that everything is earned, nothing is given. In the early ‘70s he bought out his business partner, and he and my grandmother became equal partners in Erie Auto Salvage. I’m proud to have been a 3rd generation scrapper! And my family is proud to be serving the community since 1974.

Currently I am the company’s VP of Operations, but my grandfather is really the steward of the business and has a very important advisory role. My goal is to let him cash out at some point and enjoy himself knowing the business is in good hands.

My grandfather taught me the value of having real, honest conversations “over the counter” with people and how to listen. I learned the importance of giving back to the community, rolling up your sleeves, getting to work and how to be a business owner. His goal has always been to solve problems for his customers, and I like to think I bring the same attitudes towards working with my clients.

I’m proud to be from independent, non-conforming Wells County in Northern Colorado. I currently live in Greeley, CO where I plan to open up a business office in the near future.

True Coloradan

When I’m not at the salvage yard or meeting with clients I enjoy spending my time with family and like many Coloradans in the great outdoors. I’m married to Nicole and now have our son Rhett. Nicole is a nurse practitioner and we met ?? years ago through our work in the medical field.

I’m an avid angler and enjoy fishing not only here in Colorado, but also deep-sea fishing in the Florida Keys. I’ve been able to take several of my nieces and nephews on fun outdoor adventures fishing and hiking. It also means a lot to me to pass on to them how to use their hands welding, landscaping and doing other projects together. I’m a lifelong fan of the Broncos, Avalanche, Rockies, Nuggets and the University of Northern Colorado. Go Bears!

Professional

I’m fortunate to have become a client of Northwestern Mutual when I was 22 after obtaining my Bachelor’s degree in Bio-Medical Science from the University of Northern Colorado. With guidance from my advisor, I was able to create my own financial plan. I learned a lot about not only the importance of money, but also how to be strategic with money to allow it to work for you. With my advisor's guidance I was able to purchase a portion of my family business seven years later!

It all comes down to being intentional about money and identifying your key goals. Together we can then make YOUR plan a reality.

During this time I was working at Summit Pathology where I enjoyed the opportunities it provided to grow. I even started an internship program there through UNC to provide students with real medical industry experience. But after almost seven years, I felt I had a bigger purpose to serve and the impact Northwestern Mutual had made stuck with me. It was hard to leave, but I was ready to take the risk.

That led me to joining Northwestern Mutual in 2018. I saw a fantastic opportunity in a wonderful company with great people and a great culture. The most meaningful and enjoyable part of my role at Northwestern Mutual? That’s easy - the conversations with YOU. I enjoy getting to know you, thinking outside the box and brainstorming with you, solving problems, developing friendships, and creating tailor-made solutions for you. Now, I’m more excited than ever and look forward to opening my own office in Greeley in the near future.

Lending a hand in my community.

As part of Northwestern Mutual, I'm proud to help accelerate the search for better childhood cancer treatments while supporting families undergoing treatment, and survivors from late effects. Here are some of the organizations we partner with:

Alex's Lemonade Stand Foundation for Childhood Cancer (ALSF)

ALSF funds cancer research, raises awareness, and supports the families of children with cancer. Since 2012, Northwestern Mutual, its employees, and financial professionals like me have donated more than $20 million to support ALSF and fund over 400,000 research hours.

Colorado-Wyoming Chapter of the National Multiple Sclerosis Society

I’m proud to currently serve on the Leadership Council of the Colorado-Wyoming Chapter of the National Multiple Sclerosis Society. While at Summit I met Angela, a fellow employee who has MS. While Multiple Sclerosis can be such an unforgiving disease, Angela faced it with incredible grace and a tremendously positive attitude. She inspired me to get involved! It’s been a wonderful experience to plan events and fundraisers with such a fun and passionate group of people. It’s an honor to be an advocate for this organization.

American Sign Language

I’m also fluent in American Sign Language. I began signing during second grade; I picked it up and began teaching fellow classmates! I continued learning this language, even taking classes in college. When I was growing up, working at Home Depot, I found this skill to be quite useful, and I enjoyed helping people and making them feel comfortable while they asked for help. I try to use this skill whenever I can. I know this is an underserved group and I’d love to do a financial planning seminar or meet with anyone in this space please to help however I can.

How Northwestern Mutual helps you live the life you want.

When people feel better about their money, good things happen—they become more confident and feel more secure. For more than 160 years, Northwestern Mutual has helped people achieve the financial flexibility they need to live more and worry less.

Being a mutual company means Northwestern Mutual reports to its clients, not Wall Street. They don't believe in chasing fads or taking undue risk for short-term gains. Instead, they take a long-term approach—both in the way we help people plan to reach their goals, and in the way they do business. This has served their clients (and mine) well through all kinds of economic ups and downs, including wars, recessions, even the recent pandemic.

It's why I'm happy to be part of a company that's in it for the long-haul and prioritizes clients over profit.
