Personal

Karin lives on 10 acres at the edge of Wake and Granville Counties with her husband, John, and their children - Eli, Cameron and Claire (plus dogs, chickens, a rabbit, fish, frogs, etc).

Karin and her family also enjoy spending as much time as possible Down East on Harkers Island. She enjoys life and loves all things coastal. Water activities are big for the Patrick family (boating, fishing, swimming, hanging out at Shackleford Banks). Karin also likes to garden cook and is a voracious reader.

Professional

Previously, I was Senior Vice President for a large National Bank. I started working there after college and after growing with the company for 19 years, I had to spend a year of my life laying off nearly 500 of the people that worked with me when our division was sold.

I decided that I needed to find a way to make a positive contribution to people's lives. Northwestern Mutual gave me the opportunity to use my financial and relationship skills to help people with their personal and business needs as well as gave me the pride of working with a world class organization.

Years of Experience

Representing Northwestern Mutual since 2001.

Lending a hand in my community.

I believe that to whom much is given, much is expected. I have been blessed in my life. I have a strong commitment to share those blessings with others. I proudly serve on the Board of Directors for the Core Sound Museum and Heritage Center, and I am the Board Chair for the Cardinal Club. I am a former Board Chair of Interact of Wake County. I serve on the Board of Advisors for the Wake County Chamber of Commerce and I’m a member of the Raleigh Professional Women’s Forum. I also chair Women on the Move. I was honored to win the Northwestern Mutual Community Service Award in 2005. I volunteer at my children’s schools and most importantly, I coach my youngest daughter’s basketball team.

As part of Northwestern Mutual, I'm proud to help accelerate the search for better childhood cancer treatments while supporting families undergoing treatment, and survivors from late effects. Here are some of the organizations we partner with:

Alex's Lemonade Stand Foundation for Childhood Cancer (ALSF)

ALSF funds cancer research, raises awareness, and supports the families of children with cancer. Since 2012, Northwestern Mutual, its employees, and financial professionals like me have donated more than $20 million to support ALSF and fund over 400,000 research hours.

Race for Research

Karin Patrick is proud to have participated in Northwestern Mutual’s “Race for Childhood Cancer Research” on July 21 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. She walked to help raise more than $89,000 for Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation, a nonprofit that funds childhood cancer research. Thank you to everyone who supported Karin Patrick in fighting back against this disease. The contributions she helped raise will fund more than 1,780 hours of research!

How Northwestern Mutual helps you live the life you want.

When people feel better about their money, good things happen—they become more confident and feel more secure. For more than 160 years, Northwestern Mutual has helped people achieve the financial flexibility they need to live more and worry less.

Being a mutual company means Northwestern Mutual reports to its clients, not Wall Street. They don't believe in chasing fads or taking undue risk for short-term gains. Instead, they take a long-term approach—both in the way we help people plan to reach their goals, and in the way they do business. This has served their clients (and mine) well through all kinds of economic ups and downs, including wars, recessions, even the recent pandemic.

It's why I'm happy to be part of a company that's in it for the long-haul and prioritizes clients over profit.
