Chapelton Vineyards: Wine Tasting

On a lovely Fall Saturday, Mark Haywood and his team invited a variety of his clients, their spouses, and friends to join him at Chapelton Vineyards – Lyn Ranch. After a panel discussion regarding the importance of estate planning, this wonderful estate hosted a private wine-tasting and food pairing for attendees.  Guests also had the opportunity to traverse the grounds, learn about wine-making, and even press wine themselves.

The CAUSE Foundation Golf Tournament

When the opportunity presents, one should combine fun and fellowship with a purpose. To this end, Mark Haywood and his Northwestern Mutual practice sponsored a Golf Team to support the 2024 C.A.U.S.E. Foundation Annual Golf Tournament at the fabulous Wildcat Golf Course in Houston, TX.  It was a wonderful tournament that raised scholarship money to invest in education and the future of youth in the Greater Houston Area.

Exclusive Evening with Anthony Anderson

On May 2022, the Houston Network Office of Northwestern Mutual hosted an Exclusive Evening in the Foundation Room at the House of Blues. Hosted by Financial Advisors Mark Haywood, Larry Balthazar, and Kervin Simmons, and supported by the African-American Engagement Cohort, the evening featured a fireside chat with Anthony Anderson (Black-Ish, To Tell the Truth) and Kamilah Williams-Kemp (Vice President of Risk Products, Northwestern Mutual), with Mark Haywood serving as moderator and host. Guests also enjoyed a 90’s R&B concert following the chat.

The audience enjoyed the discussion, which centered around the importance of financial planning and estate planning in the African-American community.

Black Panther Showing & After Party with Eric Benét

The movie, Black Panther, became a global box-office phenomenon when it debuted in theaters. Realizing the gravity of the moment, Mark Haywood, in collaboration with the Cornell Black Alumni Association of Houston, hosted a special viewing to premier the movie Black Panther.  This once-in-a-lifetime event brought together a variety of local organizations, civic leaders, and celebrities alike.  The evening culminated in a private concert featuring Eric Benet at the House of Blues.

Sip & Learn

In a collaborative effort, Mark Haywood and Cindy Gunawan hosted a “Sip & Learn” for several clients and their guests. The evening began with a social cocktail hour, and an extensive spread of hors d'oeuvres.  Afterwards, clients listened to a featured speaker from American Funds, who provided insight on the nature of the stock market, particularly regarding the impact of the Presidential election on market performance and economic volatility.

If It Don't Feel Like 90s R&B with Teddy Riley

Music exists a medium that unites people across all demographics. For those of a particular generation, music of the 1990’s holds a special place in their hearts. For this reason, Mark Haywood invited a variety of his clients and their friends to enjoy a private 90’s R&B Party at the House of Blues. This event buzzed with energy and excitement from the crowd, as the band played a variety of hits. Attendees also received a special surprise when they discovered that the legendary producer and musician, Teddy Riley, would host the evening.

Spend Your Life Cooking

There is never a bad time to enjoy great conversation over a gourmet meal. This became evident when Mark Haywood hosted a select group of clients and their friends to join him for a culinary experience. Chef Wiley Graham prepared a multi-course meal for attendees, while providing tips on how to create these delicacies in their own kitchen. Mark also spent time discussing the importance of balancing one’s personal finances, while enjoying the finer experiences life has to offer.

National Medical Association

Conferences remain a great way to network amongst peers, while sharpening one’s skill set through educational sessions and seminars.  The National Medical Association (NMA) – Region V Conference in Dallas, TX was no different.  To help facilitate the relationship-building, Mark Haywood partnered with NMA Region V, to host a happy hour at the personal residence of one of the local doctors.  An excellent time of food, fun, and laughs were had.
