About Matthew Davis

Matt Davis

Personal

I was born in the Tampa area but was raised in North-Central Florida area since I was in the second grade. I joined the US Army (Active Duty) after high school and deployed to Iraq in 2008-2009.

After my time in the service, I attended my dream school, the University of Florida, on the GI Bill. While a student, I served as the President of the Student Veteran Club, advocating for student veterans. This advocacy brought a new student veteran center on campus and in-state tuition rates for all of our nation's veterans in the state of Florida.

Outside of work, I enjoy spending time with my beautiful wife and our family. We got married in May of 2020 in our front yard, due to the pandemic and celebrated with our family and friends with our "formal" wedding in early 2022. We met in 2017 on a dating app called Bumble while she was juggling her residency at UF to become an OB/GYN, where she is now the Associate Residency Director. We have a daughter named Tina Rose, whom we named after my late mother, born in May 2023. Michelle and I are expecting our second child in May 2025. We have two adorable miniature dachshunds named Lady and Belle. Our family loves to travel and plan to stamp our passports into oblivion.

Professional

After high school graduation, I enlisted in the army for four years of active duty. Stationed at Fort Gordon, Fort Benning, and—my main duty station—Fort Hood. During my time in the Army, I reached the rank of Sergeant (E-5) and graduated an Honor Graduate at Commissioned Officer's Academy at Fort Hood, TX. I deployed to Iraq in the Maysan Province—a marsh desert area near the Tigris River—for 12 months. I was honorably discharged in the summer of 2010, leaving the Army with 2 Army Commendation Medals, 1 Army Achievement Medal, a Good Conduct Medal, amongst other awards.

Returning to North-Central Florida, I enrolled at Santa Fe College. There I served as the President of the Collegiate Veterans Society, advocating for the transition of veterans into civilian life. Graduating with Honors with an A.A., I quickly transferred to the University of Florida where I studied a Bachelors in Science of Business Administration - Finance. I also served as the President of the Collegiate Veterans Society at UF.

In 2012, I started my planning practice with the intent to help as many families and businesses with their financial needs as possible. Since then, I have grown my practice to address the needs of Medical Professionals and their families. Additionally, I continue to build enduring relationships with my clients and their plans as their lives change.

Community Involvement

The Gainesville and Alachua County area is very important to me. Giving your time can be one of the most powerful gestures one can make for his or her community. While there are several great causes in our area, here is a list of a few causes and organizations I've dedicated some of my time to:

Alex's Lemonade Stand Foundation for Childhood Cancer (ALSF)

ALSF funds cancer research, raises awareness, and supports the families of children with cancer. Since 2012, Northwestern Mutual, its employees, and financial professionals like me have donated more than $20 million to support ALSF and fund over 400,000 research hours.
