About Me

Working on a farm can prepare you for most things personally and professionally. The hard work, dedication, and pushing through the grind of working from sun up to sun-down are more than lessons learned. They become a part of you. The physical and mental callous is earned proudly.

Looking back, Matt Schulte never would've thought growing up on a farm would benefit his career as a financial advisor when he started in 2000. The work doesn't carry the physical demands of farming, but there are similarities like the everyday grind and reward of helping people. His experience is what helps clients most. In working with farmers, business owners, and physicians, he understands the importance of working in your business while planning to retire and how the two are tied together, why you are the biggest asset of your life's work.

Matt and his team help you create a retirement blueprint. A blueprint that focuses on your goals, organzes your different accounts and investments, helps yand ou be more efficient with taxes and saving. One built on a foundation of service, communication, patience, and integrity—harvested from years of farm work.

Life is funny, though. To parallel a career in financial planning, Matt and his wife Keri own a small cattle and crop farm on the outskirts of Manchester, IA. It was essential to them that their four kids grow up with a similar experience to Matt.

When not doing chores, the family runs kids to sports, activities, 4-H events, or are on , the acreage enjoying the outdoors—hunting, riding four-wheelers, and doing family things.

Lending a hand in my community

As part of Northwestern Mutual, I'm proud to help accelerate the search for better childhood cancer treatments while supporting families undergoing treatment, and survivors from late effects. Here are some of the organizations we partner with:

Alex's Lemonade Stand Foundation for Childhood Cancer (ALSF)

ALSF funds cancer research, raises awareness, and supports the families of children with cancer. Since 2012, Northwestern Mutual, its employees, and financial professionals like me have donated more than $20 million to support ALSF and fund over 400,000 research hours.

How Northwestern Mutual helps you live the life you want.

When people feel better about their money, good things happen—they become more confident and feel more secure. For more than 160 years, Northwestern Mutual has helped people achieve the financial flexibility they need to live more and worry less.

Being a mutual company means Northwestern Mutual reports to its clients, not Wall Street. They don't believe in chasing fads or taking undue risk for short-term gains. Instead, they take a long-term approach—both in the way we help people plan to reach their goals, and in the way they do business. This has served their clients (and mine) well through all kinds of economic ups and downs, including wars, recessions, even the recent pandemic.

It's why I'm happy to be part of a company that's in it for the long-haul and prioritizes clients over profit.
