Personal
Mike and Marisa live in Alexandria, MN along with their children Jack and Myla. As a family in the summer they love spending time out on the water and golfing. In the winter the kids are always cheering on the Alexandria Cardinals basketball team. Mike is also an avid hunter and loves spending time in the stand with both Jack and Myla. Mike graduated high school from West Central Area in 2005 before attending North Dakota State University.
After studying Business Management and graduating from NDSU in 2009 he started his career at Verizon in sales leadership where he spent 10+ years leading teams throughout Minnesota. Mike was lucky enough to meet his Financial Advisor Josh Longnecker when he became a client of Northwestern Mutual and after a few years decided to open his practice in Alexandria.
Professional
Mike began his career with Northwestern Mutual in 2019, after spending a decade leading others at Verizon. He has a unique perspective on financial planning having been a client before becoming an advisor, which he leverages to help his clients prioritize and make sense of their financial goals.
This experience has given Mike a great appreciation for the company and the quality of products and services Northwestern Mutual has to offer. As a Financial Advisor, he enjoys working with business owners and families to help them plan for their futures, while at the same time spend their life living.
Mike serves as a mentor to the Northwestern Mutual St. Cloud team helping younger advisors grow their clientele and takes pride in seeing them develop into successful business owners.
Lending a hand in my community.
As part of Northwestern Mutual, I'm proud to help accelerate the search for better childhood cancer treatments while supporting families undergoing treatment, and survivors from late effects. Here are some of the organizations we partner with:
Leukemia and Lymphoma Society
Mike and Marisa sponsor The Big Climb by the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society every Spring. This event is very important to their family as Mike lost his dad Dale to Leukemia/Lymphoma in 2007. If you are ever interested in joining their fundraising team call Mike directly, it takes everyone to battle cancer and help those in need.
MN Masonic Children's Cancer Center
The entire Northwestern Mutual Minneapolis group is involved in multiple charity events each year to sponsor the Minnesota Masonic Childen's Hopsital, supporting families affected by childhood cancer. Each fall they sponsor a team for the Chip for Charity and have raised hundred of thousands for this cause. If you are ever interested in taking part in the Chip for Charity let Mike know, he will be happy to help you sponsor a team to help the kids.
YMCA
Mike is serving on the Board for the Alexandria YMCA. Where he enjoys helping others throughout the community.

How Northwestern Mutual helps you live the life you want.
When people feel better about their money, good things happen—they become more confident and feel more secure. For more than 160 years, Northwestern Mutual has helped people achieve the financial flexibility they need to live more and worry less.
Being a mutual company means Northwestern Mutual reports to its clients, not Wall Street. They don't believe in chasing fads or taking undue risk for short-term gains. Instead, they take a long-term approach—both in the way we help people plan to reach their goals, and in the way they do business. This has served their clients (and mine) well through all kinds of economic ups and downs, including wars, recessions, even the recent pandemic.
It's why I'm happy to be part of a company that's in it for the long-haul and prioritizes clients over profit.
