Serving Those Who Serve
I know because I’ve been there.
A third-generation veteran, I retired having earned the rank of Lieutenant Colonel after 27 strong years of service. Though I hung up the uniform, my desire to help others never went away. My Army career spanned multiple specialized fields - military planner, cybersecurity/communications officer, and medic. The skills learned (a Masters in Planning, another in Military Operations) at the prestigious US Army School of Advanced Military Studies (SAMS) served me well in the field – as a civilian, I now use those same skills to serve clients as their financial advisor. In a very real way I understand complexity and effective planning, balancing needs right now with being prepared for the long-play.
My roots

Integrity, loyalty, and gallantry: These are the values I live by each day. Service was ingrained in me from the moment I could walk, growing up in awe of a grandmother who flew B-25 bombers in World War II, and seeing my dad throughout his military career. In 1994, I joined the Army to give back to my country, and continue my family's legacy. After several career chapters there, I knew I wanted to continue making a difference - but needed to redefine what that meant. Helping others wasn't just something my family did – it was our way of life.

So when I was introduced to the Northwestern Mutual Greater Colorado in 2021, I instantly knew this was the place to apply my unique and well-honed skillset. Since joining NM, people still call me "Sully" and I still apply my planner's toolkit in helping others with their financial picture. I've been recognized as a top new financial representative, and stepped into leadership as a Growth and Development Director where I help guide others in this amazing career.

Colorado is home now, where the wife and I enjoy the outdoors, visiting new places, making Korean BBQ, working on computers, spending time with my three daughters, getting out to golf, and overall, just enjoying life.
Getting into my community
I have a ton of fun working alongside the friends I've made in the Castle Rock Chamber of Commerce Ambassador. And, as part of Northwestern Mutual, I'm proud to help accelerate the search for better childhood cancer treatments while supporting families undergoing treatment, and survivors from late effects.
More on these organizations:
Castle Rock Chamber of Commerce
For over 65 years, we've hosted events for the community, welcomed new businesses to town, and engaged everyone in building a better Castle Rock together.

Alex's Lemonade Stand Foundation for Childhood Cancer (ALSF)
ALSF funds cancer research, raises awareness, and supports the families of children with cancer. Since 2012, Northwestern Mutual, its employees, and financial professionals like me have donated more than $20 million to support ALSF and fund over 400,000 research hours.
