Timothy R Barnhart

Tim grew up in Phoenix, NY and received a degree in Business Administration and Communication from Oswego State University. He began his career at Northwestern Mutual in 2001 as a Financial Representative Intern. He followed in his father Fred’s footsteps and transitioned into the Financial Representative role in 2002. He became a College Unit Director in 2003, Field Director in 2005, and Managing Director in Syracuse in April 2011. He stepped away from that role in 2018 to focus on developing deep, meaningful client relationships as well as building his team. He has his CLU®, ChFC®, RICP®, CLTC®, and ChSNC® designations from the American College of Financial Services. He has spoken to over 20 Northwestern Mutual offices across the country and at several regional and annual meetings.
Tim is married to Andrea, and they have two children, Lindsay and Kyle and their Bichon, Spencer. They enjoy spending time with family and friends and are Syracuse University sports enthusiasts.
Ralph Torrillo
Ralph’s experience includes 20 years with a technology-enabled digital and performance marketing company, helping guide it from start-up to trusted provider of enterprise solutions to some of the world’s most recognizable and Fortune-leading brands. He held roles across various disciplines from sales and account management to operations and executive leadership, ultimately serving as COO and CCO.
Ralph is a Syracuse, NY native and went on to attend Fairleigh Dickinson University’s Florham Campus in Madison, NJ, where he earned a bachelor's degree in marketing from the Silberman College of Business.
He is a proud husband to his wife, Kimily, and together they have three wonderful children: Julian, Liana, and Avery. They’re avid SU fans, active in sports, theater, and church among other things, and really enjoy opportunities to experience life together through travel.

Steven J Episcopo

Steve is a Syracuse native and attended Ithaca College. While there he earned degrees in Business Administration and Cinema & Photography and was a member of the track & field team as a pole vaulter. Steve is a CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER® professional and has earned ChFC® and RICP® designations from the American College of Financial Services as well as having his Life, Accident & Health license, and his Series 6 and 63 FINRA licenses.
Steve joined Northwestern Mutual as a college intern in 2013. He left to work for Tesla in 2016, moving to Los Angeles and then West Palm Beach. He rejoined the team in 2019. He now lives in Cicero with his wife, Morgan, and their cats, Jarvis and Juno. Steve enjoys golf, woodworking, traveling, boating, and playing or watching all sports, especially the Syracuse Orange.

Heather C Mulye
Investment Operations Manager
Heather is a Syracuse native. She graduated from Oswego State university in 2002 with a BA in Studio Art. She has a daughter and a son who are her world. She is an avid runner, enjoys participating in races of all kinds including trail running events and OCR races. She is an advocate for the special needs community and leads a fitness program for kids with Down syndrome. She is on the board of GiGi’s Playhouse Down Syndrome Achievement Center. Heather is a Notary Public for New York State and has her Life, Accident and Health license as well as her Series 6 and 63.
Heather joined Northwestern Mutual in 2008 as part of the general agency Network Office in investment operations. She joined the team in October of 2020. She is currently pursuing the ChSNC® designation to help create a meaningful difference in the lives of people with disabilities and special needs.

Joe Corcoran
MBA
Insurance Operations Associate
Joe graduated magna cum laude from Berklee College of Music in Boston, with a degree in music performance. He then earned a master’s degree in the music business and entertainment industries.
Joe worked in the music industry in Nashville and Pompano Beach for 10 years and was the Chief Operating Officer for a well-established karate company with locations across the US for several years. He joined Northwestern Mutual in 2013 in South Florida and joined our team after moving home in 2022. He holds the Life, Accident and Health License, Series 7 and Series 66 and is a third-degree black belt in mixed martial arts and kenpo karate. He lives in Brewerton and enjoys spending time with his high school crush and now fiancée, Patty.

Debbie Garvey
Operations Associate
Debbie is a native of Syracuse. She attended Powelson Business Institute, while working part-time at New York Life. Thereafter, and for the following 20 years, she was at Kemper Insurance as a Human Resources & Education Coordinator.
After helping her father with his banquet/bar business for a few years, she went on to work with John Kenney, WMA at Northwestern Mutual for the next 20 years, thru December 2022. In January 2023, Debbie joined the team.
Debbie lives in East Syracuse with her husband, Tom. She has two daughters – a music teacher and a 2nd grade teacher. She enjoys traveling and spending time with her family and friends, and especially her 7-year-old grandson.

Michael Andrew Schram
CLU®, RICP®
Financial Advisor
Michael received his B.S. in Finance in 2011 from Oswego State University. He has received the CLU® designation from the American College. He is currently a candidate for the RICP designation. Michael joined Northwestern Mutual as a college intern in 2011 and has been a financial advisor ever since. Michael presents on financial planning topics to various colleges and organizations throughout the country.
Michael is a member of the Lions Club International, Cooperstown N.Y. chapter. Now a lifelong member of Zeta Beta Tau Fraternity, he served as the fundraising chair during his time in college.
He and his wife Regan reside in Milford, NY with their son River. Michael enjoys traveling, spending time with his family and continuously improving his golf game.

Jonah Coburn
Financial Advisor
Jonah grew up in Watertown, NY and received his Bachelor of Science from Oswego State University in 2011. He was an intern for the Regional Governor’s Office and NY-23 Congressional Office while in college. He started financial planning in 2011 and joined Northwestern Mutual in 2013. He has held several leadership roles within Northwestern Mutual and was recognized as a Top 10 College Unit Director while developing the internship program in Syracuse. He is a candidate for the Chartered Leadership Fellow credential through the American College of Financial Services.
Jonah is married to Stephanie, and they are proud parents to, Liam and Liliana. He serves on the board for Baldwinsville Pop Warner Football and when he is not working with clients, you will find him coaching on the basketball court, football field, or baseball diamond. Jonah and his family are Syracuse University sports enthusiasts and enjoy spending time with family and friends. Jonah is also an avid golfer.

Brian F Nolte

Brian graduated from SUNY Albany with his Bachelor of Art’s in Anthropology in 2017. Brian started his professional career after graduation working in both personal and business banking. Brian joined Northwestern Mutual in June of 2021, originally in the Albany region before relocating to the Syracuse area in October 2023.
Brian is an Albany native and enjoys hiking, kayaking, paddle boarding and open water swimming. He is currently working towards completing his FINRA Series 7 licensing.

Angelo Zumpano
MBA
Associate Financial Representative
Angelo grew up in Sherrill, NY. He attended Le Moyne College and received a bachelor’s degree in accounting, as well as an MBA with a focus in Analytics. Angelo has a huge passion for sports and is one of the biggest Syracuse Orange fans you will meet. He enjoys spending time with family and friends and traveling with his girlfriend. Angelo holds the Life, Accident, and Health license, as well as the SIE, Series 6, and Series 63 FINRA licenses.
Angelo joined Northwestern Mutual in June of 2022 after completing his master’s degree. He spent the first 18 months of his career working in the Financial Representative role where he found a love for working with and helping clients. Angelo joined the team in February 2024.

Becky Patchett
Executive Assistant
Becky grew up in Liverpool, NY. She attended Bryant & Stratton focusing on Business Administration, while working full time and raising her two daughters Jessica and Alicia. Becky has 30 years of experience in Office Management, Human Resources and High-Level Executive Assistant Roles.
Becky resides in Syracuse with her sweet Pit-Boxer rescue, Zoey. She enjoys spending time with family and friends but most of all spending time with her three beautiful grandchildren Max, Madison, and Harrison. Becky dedicates time to the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention, Out of the Darkness Community. In a perfect world, she would like to see everyone be kind to one another, take mental health seriously, and help take the necessary steps to prevent suicide. In Jan 2024, Becky happily joined the Barnhart Team.

Kaitlyn Shean
Insurance Operations Associate
Kaitlyn is a Watertown native. She graduated from Jefferson Community College in 2012. She has two sons, Bryce and Carter who take up all her time. She is constantly on the go with them for the many sports that they are involved in. Baseball, football, basketball, swimming you name it they are in it. If you ever need to find her, she is the one who is cheering the loudest in the stands. When she is not at a game, you can find her and her kids camping. She loves the Adirondacks. Kaitlyn has her Life, Accident and Health license. Kaitlyn joined Northwestern Mutual in December of 2023 as a Financial Representative and joined the team in June of 2024. She is currently studying for her SIE, Series 6, and Series 63 FINRA licenses.

Tucker Phelps

Associate Wealth Management Advisor
Tucker is a Syracuse native and attended St. John Fisher College earning a degree in Finance with a minor in Accounting, Sport Management, and Data Science. He played soccer in high school and at the collegiate level. He enjoys spending time outside including, boating, going to the beach, golfing, hiking, and snowboarding/snowmobiling during the winter season. Tucker has earned the ChFC®, CLU®, and RICP® designations from the American College and is a Certified Financial Planner (CFP®). He also has his Life, Accident & Health license, Series 7, and 63 FINRA licenses.
Tucker joined Northwestern Mutual in May of 2021. He started as an intern in the financial representative role and transitioned into a new intern role with the financial planning department in November of 2021. Tucker joined the team in a part time role in January of 2022, before becoming fulltime upon graduation in May of 2022.
