Professional
Tim Procita graduated at the top of his class from Appalachian State University in Boone, NC, with a double major in Finance and Banking. Tim spent the first 10-years of his career in the banking industry working for a large bank managing multi-million-dollar loans for corporate and business owner clients. In 2007, Tim was approached by a small community bank to become the President and CEO for their bank expansion into his marketplace.
While having a successful career in the banking industry, Tim began to volunteer at his local church to give financial counseling to those in need. He helped families budget, eliminate credit card debt, and build emergency funds. During this time, Tim realized he had a passion for helping people make wise financial decisions. He learned that American families need help, guidance, and expertise when it comes to their money.
In 2010, Tim Procita made a career change so that he could help people with their financial planning full time. Tim established his financial planning practice and made the decision to partner with Northwestern Mutual because of their solid financial strength, excellent reputation in the industry, and culture of mutuality.
Tim believes strongly in continuing education and works to continuously grow his knowledge and expertise. Tim currently holds four industry designations: CFP® (Certified Financial Planner), CLU® (Chartered Life Underwriter), ChFC® (Chartered Financial Consultant), and LACP® (Life and Annuity Chartered Professional).
Tim is passionate about giving back to the community and showing compassion to others. He currently leads a ministry at his church called the Titus Initiative that helps members of the community who are in need. Tim loves writing and receiving letters from the children he sponsors through Compassion International in Ghana, Haiti, and Brazil. He is also a member of the local Martinsburg Sunrise Rotary community service organization.
In his free time Tim enjoys many outdoor activities including hiking, biking, and kayaking. He is currently trying to improve his time for his next 5K race and has a goal of hiking to the top of a 14,000-foot summit in the coming year. He loves to travel to new places, with Hawaii, Aruba, Calgary, and Colorado as some of his recent favorites.
Tim currently has offices in Martinsburg, WV and Hagerstown, MD. Thanks to technology and web-conferencing Tim is well-equipped to meet with and serve clients all over the country.
Although they have the expertise to work with all manner of people, Tim and his team specialize in working with five main types of clients:
- Pre-Retirees: If you are approaching retirement you may feel uncertain if you have enough money to last through your retirement without running out of funds in your later years. You will need advice and guidance for how to maximize your savings and plan for the inevitability of taxes, inflation, long term care expenses, and stock market swings.
-
Medical Professionals: Doctors have a unique set of financial planning needs. The years you have invested in your education and training are unlike any other profession; as are your needs for planning around student loan debt and disability insurance. Tim’s firm has the expertise and access to products that can address the unique needs of doctors; including surgeons, dentists, pharmacists, veterinarians, and medical students.
-
Executives and Senior Management: If you are in this category you likely have a high income, which creates unique financial planning needs. You need to be savvy about planning to maximize tax efficiency while still leaving behind a legacy for your family. Personalized planning is required to help high income families save money strategically. If you are a CEO, attorney, bank executive, or work in senior management in any industry, you need to work with a professional to ensure that your goals are being met.
-
Business Owners: Entrepreneurs have above average work ethic, and as your hard work brings success you must be sure to plan and protect yourself and your business. It is critically important that business owners work closely with financial professionals who understand the nuances of financial business planning so that you can protect your hard-earned dollars.
-
Successful Young Adults: What would you say if you could go back and tell your 20-year-old self what to do differently? When you are in your 20’s or 30’s and just getting started in your career it is the best time for you to begin planning so that you can get off to a solid start. Successful young professionals and families should be thinking about working towards their financial goals as soon as possible, and Tim and his team are here to help with guidance and expert recommendations.
Lending a hand in my community.
As part of Northwestern Mutual, I'm proud to help accelerate the search for better childhood cancer treatments while supporting families undergoing treatment, and survivors from late effects. Here are some of the organizations we partner with:
Alex's Lemonade Stand Foundation for Childhood Cancer (ALSF)
ALSF funds cancer research, raises awareness, and supports the families of children with cancer. Since 2012, Northwestern Mutual, its employees, and financial professionals like me have donated more than $20 million to support ALSF and fund over 400,000 research hours.

Beads of Courage
Beads of Courage is an art-in-medicine program that helps kids with cancer tell their unique treatment story through colorful beads that are symbols of their courage.

How Northwestern Mutual helps you live the life you want.
When people feel better about their money, good things happen—they become more confident and feel more secure. For more than 160 years, Northwestern Mutual has helped people achieve the financial flexibility they need to live more and worry less.
Being a mutual company means Northwestern Mutual reports to its clients, not Wall Street. They don't believe in chasing fads or taking undue risk for short-term gains. Instead, they take a long-term approach—both in the way we help people plan to reach their goals, and in the way they do business. This has served their clients (and mine) well through all kinds of economic ups and downs, including wars, recessions, even the recent pandemic.
It's why I'm happy to be part of a company that's in it for the long-haul and prioritizes clients over profit.
