Personal

I am a first-generation American and have lived and worked in New York for the past 27 years.

I love the fact more than 800 languages are spoken in New York City, that you can ride your bike across the Brooklyn Bridge, that New Yorkers drink seven times more coffee than people in the rest of America, that you can find any type of food at any time of day or night in NYC, and that New York City is such a big melting pot filled with so many ethnic micro neighborhoods.

I grew up in Asia, Europe and the Middle East. By the time I was fourteen years old, I had traveled to eighteen countries across three continents. I had learned to speak five languages and developed a love for food from all over the world!

I have been blessed with good health, a loving and supportive family and an amazing career through which I have been able to experience a wonderful life serving people across the world. My wife and I met in college and have been married for 26 years. We live in a small village in Westchester County, New York with our twelve year-old son. We love our diverse and culturally-rich community and cherish the friendships that we have made over the years.

Our family is actively involved in serving our community. My wife is deeply committed to volunteering within the school system. I serve as member of the Advisory Board of Turning Point for Women and Families, an NYC-based organization whose mission is to help Muslim women and girls affected by domestic violence to empower themselves and transform their own lives as well as those of their families.

Professional

Before I can help you, I need to understand your story. This requires an honest conversation and understanding about your goals, the past experiences that you have had around financial planning, and the story behind what money means to you.

But before you can feel comfortable sharing your goals and dreams with me, you may want to get to know a little more about me and my story.

Before joining Northwestern Mutual, I spent over 20 years working in institutional asset management managing multi-billion dollar investment portfolios for pension funds, corporate retirement plans and endowments.

I served as the Managing Partner and Portfolio Manager of Global Alpha Asset Management LLC, an alternative asset management firm offering a quantitative factor-based global equity strategy that incorporated analysis of environmental, social and corporate governance (ESG) criteria via a private impact fund. The fund's objective was to generate positive financial and social returns while supporting the United Nations' Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

Previously, I was a Senior Vice President and Senior Portfolio Manager at Artio Global Management LLC (formerly known as Julius Bar Investment Management LLC) where I built and managed the international equities institutional separate account and sub-advisory business, which grew to approximately $36 billion (of $72 billion total assets under management) over the course of nine years.

Before joining the private sector, I spent almost ten years at the United Nations Joint Staff Pension Fund working in various roles in the Investment Management Division, most recently as an assistant portfolio manager helping to manage approximately $1.7 billion (of $25 billion total assets under management) invested in emerging market equities.

I decided to transition from the institutional investment management side of the industry to private wealth management so that I could help first and second generation Americans live the American dream.

How we make an impact

Corporations may have either a positive or a negative impact on people, communities, and our natural environment. Today's social issues often become tomorrow's economic problems. We know that money has impact. Investment capital can finance either socially desirable or socially destructive businesses. We can make conscious choices about how our money works in the world.

My team and I are driven by a deep-rooted desire to make a positive impact to our planet and to humankind by supporting organizations that are on the front lines helping to protect our environment, caring for and building our societies, and campaigning for equal opportunities for all of us and for our children.

Turning Point for Women and Families

charity:water

Helping bring clean and safe water to every person on the planet. 771 million people across the world live without clean water. The daily effort to collect dirty water forces families to journey away from home and makes it harder to earn an income. It keeps kids out of school and steals their education. Access to clean water changes everything. 100% of all donations directly fund clean water for those who need it most.

How Northwestern Mutual helps you live the life you want.

When people feel better about their money, good things happen—they become more confident and feel more secure. For more than 160 years, Northwestern Mutual has helped people achieve the financial flexibility they need to live more and worry less.

Being a mutual company means Northwestern Mutual reports to its clients, not Wall Street. They don't believe in chasing fads or taking undue risk for short-term gains. Instead, they take a long-term approach—both in the way we help people plan to reach their goals, and in the way they do business. This has served their clients (and mine) well through all kinds of economic ups and downs, including wars, recessions, even the recent pandemic.

It's why I'm happy to be part of a company that's in it for the long-haul and prioritizes clients over profit.
