About Winn

A North Carolina native, Winn grew up on the Outer Banks with his parents and two brothers whom he is very close to. Anywhere by the water feels like home to Winn. As a testament to his love of water and travelling, Winn studied abroad for a semester at sea during undergrad and has travelled and studied in several different countries. He and his Wife call Durham, NC home, but still enjoy trips to the beach and lake, where they spend time boating and wakeboarding.

When he has a few hours of leisure time, Winn can be found reading the latest in fantasy fiction, rollerblading, playing volleyball with his peers, or watching Carolina basketball.

A tip from Roy Williams:
"A smart man makes a mistake, learns from it, and never makes that mistake again. But, a wise man finds a smart man and learns from him how to avoid the mistake altogether."

Winn will help you navigate life's hurdles towards wise financial decisions.

My Journey to being your Representative

Family Pastimes Become Financial Passions

You could say that the world of finance has been in Winn's blood since he was a young boy. At the age of 5, his grandfather gifted him his first stocks with Texaco. He can vividly remember sitting with members of his family around the breakfast table, in the morning, looking at the finance sections of the newspaper together. Finance is a passion and a nostalgic connection to his family.

Winn carried this early passion for the world of finance with him into his university studies, knowing that he wanted his future career to help others feel financially secure and protected. Winn first joined Northwestern Mutual through an internship program during his undergraduate studies at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. After graduating in May 2011, with a degree in History and Economics and a minor in Entrepreneurship, he decided to continue as a fulltime adviser. Ever since, he has been helping clients build financial plans that will provide security for their families for generations.

"The price of anything is the amount of life you exchange for it"
- Henry David Thoreau

Let Winn help you plan now so you can spend life LIVING.

Take time to give back to your community

I'm proud that my team contentiously works to help make a positive impact in our community. Here are some of the organizations we either partner or volunteer with:

Alex's Lemonade Stand Foundation for Childhood Cancer (ALSF)

ALSF funds cancer research, raises awareness, and supports the families of children with cancer. Since 2012, Northwestern Mutual, its employees, and financial professionals like me have donated more than $20 million to support ALSF and fund over 400,000 research hours.

How Northwestern Mutual helps you live the life you want.

When people feel better about their money, good things happen—they become more confident and feel more secure. For more than 160 years, Northwestern Mutual has helped people achieve the financial flexibility they need to live more and worry less.

Being a mutual company means Northwestern Mutual reports to its clients, not Wall Street. They don't believe in chasing fads or taking undue risk for short-term gains. Instead, they take a long-term approach—both in the way we help people plan to reach their goals, and in the way they do business. This has served their clients (and mine) well through all kinds of economic ups and downs, including wars, recessions, even the recent pandemic.

It's why I'm happy to be part of a company that's in it for the long-haul and prioritizes clients over profit.
