Northwestern Mutual Helps Consumers 'Let Worries Go' With Choice of Virtual Catapult, Rocket Ship, Submarine or Hot Air Balloon
Northwestern Mutual, the proverbial Quiet Company, is turning up the volume with http://www.letyourworriesgo.com/, an interactive website that will empower people to let go of their worries using a medieval catapult, rocket ship, submarine or hot air balloon. To address the most frequent societal worries selected by the public, the Northwestern Mutual Foundation will then donate $1 million to charities supporting these causes.
"We wanted a fun and engaging way to resonate with our Internet-savvy customers," said Nag Odekar, director of brand and advertising for Northwestern Mutual. "We believe the 'let your worries go' concept enables us to break through the clutter -- illustrating our company's value in an entertaining and meaningful way."
The micro site features some of life's greatest concerns -- ranging from hunger and illness to college funding and retirement -- and offers positive solutions. In a nod to its success, http://www.letyourworriesgo.com/ was named as 'Site of the Day' on March 19 by Favourite Website Awards (FWA), an internationally-recognized award program honoring innovative website designs.
As part of this integrated campaign, the Northwestern Mutual Foundation has committed to donating $1 million in 2008 to help alleviate hunger and illness, provide natural disaster relief and improve health and fitness. Four national nonprofit organizations will share the $1 million grant: America's Second Harvest -- The Nation's Food Bank Network, Susan G. Komen for the Cure®, Habitat for Humanity in New Orleans, LA, and YMCA. Worries that are submitted to the site through December 31, 2008 will be tallied and used to determine how the grant will be distributed among the organizations. Each organization is guaranteed to receive at least $100,000.
Visitors with financial worries, such as financial security, education funding, wealth accumulation and retirement planning, have the option of contacting one of more than 7,000 Northwestern Mutual Financial Network representatives across the United States. Representatives are trained to work with people to help identify ways to alleviate these worries and achieve long-term financial security.
