Northwestern Mutual Internship Program Named Top 10 for 10th Consecutive Year
Ten for Ten. That's the Northwestern Mutual Internship program's record for being named one of America's Top 10 Internships in the Vault Guide to Internships, 2006, marking the tenth consecutive year of this distinguished ranking. Only two other organizations have earned this honor for ten straight years.

The Vault Guide to Internships, 2006, bases its internship rankings on a variety of factors, including substantive work, compensation, real-world experiences, selectivity, subjective expertise and how internships with the company are perceived to potential employers. Northwestern Mutual's program is in good company with other elite Top 10 internships such as the U.S. Supreme Court, the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) and the Academy of Television Arts & Sciences.
A financial representative intern with Northwestern Mutual Financial Network gains the same knowledge and training of full-time representatives, learning the basics of the insurance and financial services industry. They are compensated on a performance-based system, and provided mentoring and support from seasoned veterans throughout the office.
Since 1967, more than 20,000 students have gained invaluable knowledge of the business and financial world through the internship program with Northwestern Mutual. Annually, the program offers internships to about 1,000 students, a number which the company intends to double over the coming years.
"The experience as a financial representative intern is excellent preparation for a career in financial services, or any other field they may want to pursue," noted Beckley.
In fact, 25 percent of current field management with the Northwestern Mutual Financial Network started their career as a financial representative intern, and 20 percent of the company's top producing financial representatives started as interns.
