Northwestern Mutual Foundation Donates $265,000 to Service Organizations Across the Country
Northwestern Mutual is honoring the charitable work of a select group of network representatives by donating a total of $265,000 from the Northwestern Mutual Foundation to 25 non-profit organizations around the country. These donations are part of the company's annual Community Service Award program, which is open to more than 9,000 network representatives of the Northwestern Mutual Financial Network.
Recognizing exemplary dedication to charitable organizations, twenty-five network representatives are honored with a grant to each organization they represent. One network representative is selected as the "Most Exceptional Volunteer" and receives a $25,000 grant to their designated non-profit, with the other twenty-four honorees receiving a $10,000 grant to their respective organizations.
"Giving back to the community is an important part of our company's culture," said Northwestern Mutual President and CEO Edward J. Zore. "The Community Service Award is a great way to recognize our representatives for their dedicated community service and promote our company's culture of charity and volunteerism."
Zore notes that since Northwestern Mutual started the award program in 1995, the company has donated more than $2 million dollars on its representatives' behalf to over 200 non-profit organizations across the country. "We're pleased to support their ongoing efforts and honor such remarkable accomplishments," Zore added.
Now in its 12th year, the Community Service Award program is open to any full-time network representative who is actively involved in a non-profit, tax-exempt organization. Representatives may submit entries themselves or be nominated by another colleague. A panel of judges selects the winners based on their commitment, dedication and hands-on volunteer involvement.
The program is funded by the Northwestern Mutual Foundation, which has donated more than $73 million to national and Milwaukee area nonprofit organizations in the past five years. For decades, the Company has been committed to improving the quality of life by concentrating its charitable contributions in the areas of education, health and human services, and the arts and culture.
