Northwestern Mutual Financial Network Sponsors Number One Ranked Women's Bobsled Team in the World

Women bobsledders will compete for the first time at the 2002 Winter Olympics in Salt Lake City, and the Northwestern Mutual Financial Network, which is the sales and distribution arm of Northwestern Mutual, is playing a part in helping Jean Racine and Jen Davidson bring home the gold for the United States. The Network is one of Racine and Davidson's key corporate sponsors in their quest for an Olympic gold this winter.

Racine, the driver from Waterford, Mich., and Davidson, the brakewoman from Layton, Utah, are the top ranked women's bobsled team in the world. During the 2000-2001 season, they combined for an unprecedented six gold medals out of seven World Cup events. Racine and Davidson have won the World Cup Championship in each of the last two seasons. In addition, they won silver medals at the 2000 and 2001 Women's Bobsled World Championships.

The Network's sponsorship is invaluable to the team. According to Davidson, "We're some of the first women in this sport to have big sponsorships like this. It's huge as far as what it's enabled us to do -- taking some of the financial burden away from us so that we can focus on our training."
