Along with making the financial lives of our clients better, we're improving our community, too. Through financial support, volunteerism and collaboration with partners, we're helping to build a stronger community.
Alex's Lemonade Stand Foundation
Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation (ALSF) is changing the lives of children with cancer by funding research, raising awareness, and supporting families impacted by childhood cancer. NM-Nebraska has raised over $150,000 for ALSF through lemonade stands, social media campaigns, partnering with University of Nebraska - Lincoln with a sales curriculum competition, and through various events.
Children's Hospital and Medical Center
Children’s Hospital & Medical Center is the only full-service, pediatric healthcare center in Nebraska, providing expertise in more than 50 pediatric specialty services to children across a five-state region and beyond. Northwestern Mutual - Nebraska has given over $165,000 to Children's Hospital and Medical Center in support of the fight against childhood cancer through their "watershed research program."
Sammy's Superheroes Foundation
The mission of Sammy's Superheroes Foundation is to raise awareness and fund live-saving research for all types of childhood cancer. Northwestern Mutual - Nebraska partners with Sammy's Superheroes foundation through support of the "family outreach boxes" that include comfort items and educational pieces for kids and families impacted by pediatric cancer and through various events throughout the year resulting in over $63,000 raised.
Camp CoHoLo
Camp CoHoLo provides children with cancer the opportunity to partake in a summer camp experience without the worry of their conditions holding them back. Northwestern Mutual supports Camp CoHoLo through events, fundraising, and awareness. We have had the opportunity to support this camp's mission with over $53,000 and some advisors and team members have participated in the camp as volunteers.
Lolo's Angels Inc.
Lolo’s Angels, Inc.’s mission is to fund life-saving research for pediatric cancer research, sponsor blood and bone marrow drives, raise awareness for pediatric cancer, and serve kids and families through their cancer journey. Northwestern Mutual - Nebraska has helped Lolo's Angels Inc. host bone marrow and blood drives on the campus of UNL, locally, in our offices, and has supported their annual Oktoberfest.
Pediatric Cancer Action Network
PCAN's mission is to reduce the financial burden placed on families diagnosed with pediatric cancer and to advocate for a cure through awareness, education and action. Northwestern Mutual - Nebraska has partnered with PCAN through funding and awareness. Our staple event was the Childhood Cancer Art Auction, 2-part event, where local children painted canvases that represented their journey and their favorite things in life.
