A Note from Our Founder

Our founding partners began their advisor careers in 2012, on the heels of the Great Recession. Serving the marketplace since has shaped our expertise at crafting plan solutions and strategies. Most of all, it has highlighted the financial anxiety that executives, retirees, and their families face. We’ve seen the growing pressure to make the right – and avoid the wrong – financial decisions.

Clarity Wealth Advisors was created on a shared vision to deliver financial independence and allow our clients to spend their life living. CWA is the guru at the center of our clients’ financial puzzle, managing and stewarding their wealth by strategically integrating all the pieces.

But our firm's true mission is to be a guide, building an intentional plan that enhances our clients’ quality of life. We recognize and appreciate the responsibility we have when you place your trust in us, and we are honored by the opportunity.

- Andy Puhrmann

Behind The Name

When original founders Jeff Byrn and Andy Puhrmann had the vision to create an enduring firm that would last for generations, they realized they underestimated the challenge of naming such firm. After half a dozen meetings sitting with their mission, vision, and every thesaurus they could find, “Clarity” was the word that kept coming to the top of the list. Our work is to give clients confidence in their finances, give them the freedom to live without worry or fear. The ambiguity of “how much is enough” or is their money growing appropriately, or which account to spend from and when. These are the constant challenges people face, and a Clear plan is what they are missing. We are proud to not list our names on the door. The firm began with Byrn and Puhrmann, but it won’t end that way, and as long as it endures, creating Clarity in our client’s wealth planning is what we’re here to do.

Personal

“How you do anything is how you do everything.” This is the motto I learned growing up on my family’s century farm between Germantown and Paullina in the Northwest corner of Iowa, Albeit my brothers would claim me, with some limiting asthma and allergies, I wasn’t the “workhorse” of the crew. Opinions aside, the lessons of hard work, diligence, and doing your chores every day the right way are principles I bring to my advising practice.

I believe I was created to be an advisor with Northwestern Mutual. I get out of bed everyday excited to spend time with hard-working, big-thinking clients, help them know what’s possible, and inspire their best futures out of them.

I'm a 7 on the enneagram scale, so forgive me if your appointment finishes up early, and if small-talk takes up half of it. Also, have comfort in the fact my team at home and at the office keep me grounded and in my lane.

I love to get in early, see clients of all ages during the day, and get home to spend time with my family. I met my wife, Bailey at Buena Vista University in Storm Lake—once a Beaver always a Beaver—and together we have 3 kids. 2 daughters, Macyn and Saylor, and 1 son, Camden.

How Northwestern Mutual helps you live the life you want.

When people feel better about their money, good things happen—they become more confident and feel more secure. For more than 160 years, Northwestern Mutual has helped people achieve the financial flexibility they need to live more and worry less.

Being a mutual company means Northwestern Mutual reports to its clients, not Wall Street. They don't believe in chasing fads or taking undue risk for short-term gains. Instead, they take a long-term approach—both in the way we help people plan to reach their goals, and in the way they do business. This has served their clients (and mine) well through all kinds of economic ups and downs, including wars, recessions, even the recent pandemic.

It's why I'm happy to be part of a company that's in it for the long-haul and prioritizes clients over profit.
