My Why
Timothy Shinol heard the call to serve others at a young age and commissioned in the United States Air Force at the age of 21. He served in active duty and continues to serve in the United States Air Force Reserves as an instructor for the F-15E Strike Eagle for the last 12 years. He served in two-combat deployment campaigns including Operation Inherent Resolve where he flew over 350 hours of combat time receiving numerous decorations including the Air Force Combat Action Air Medal.
With family being Tim's number one priority, he elected to separate from active duty to pursue a more stable family life. Upon separation, Tim enrolled in his Master of Business Administration with the University of North Carolina - Chapel Hill and worked as a government contractor for Northrop Grumman working as a Mission Commander leading hundreds of people in joint-force combat exercises.
In his final semester at UNC, Tim's father came ill with liver cancer and within 3 weeks of discovery, passed away. In his final conversation with his father, Tim promised his father that he would take care of "Mom," and she would never struggle; a comment that incited a significantly emotional reaction from his Dad. Tim later found out that his father had been haunted that month by feeling like he had not done enough to protect his "sweetheart."
That is why I got into this profession. The feeling as a son to know your father was anxious more about his wife's financial security than his own peace in leaving the world is devastating. I want to be the person in your life that ensures you never wonder if the plan you have in place is going to protect your family and their well-being.
Most importantly, I'm committed to helping you get to your dreams & goals. When you partner with me and my team, you can expect a judgment-free, pressure-free environment with conversations, molded around your busy schedule, that are enlightening and hold the both of us accountable.
Community Partnerships
As part of Northwestern Mutual, I'm proud to help accelerate the search for better childhood cancer treatments while supporting families undergoing treatment, and survivors from late effects. Cancer sucks, no matter how old you are. Here are some of the organizations we partner with to fight back:
Alex's Lemonade Stand Foundation for Childhood Cancer (ALSF)
ALSF funds cancer research, raises awareness, and supports the families of children with cancer. Since 2012, Northwestern Mutual, its employees, and financial professionals like me have donated more than $20 million to support ALSF and fund over 400,000 research hours.

Beads of Courage
Beads of Courage is an art-in-medicine program that helps kids with cancer tell their unique treatment story through colorful beads that are symbols of their courage.

How Northwestern Mutual helps you live the life you want.
When people feel better about their money, good things happen—they become more confident and feel more secure. For more than 160 years, Northwestern Mutual has helped people achieve the financial flexibility they need to live more and worry less.
Being a mutual company means Northwestern Mutual reports to its clients, not Wall Street. They don't believe in chasing fads or taking undue risk for short-term gains. Instead, they take a long-term approach—both in the way we help people plan to reach their goals, and in the way they do business. This has served their clients (and mine) well through all kinds of economic ups and downs, including wars, recessions, even the recent pandemic.
It's why I'm happy to be part of a company that's in it for the long-haul and prioritizes clients over profit.
