Designed for people and the planet

We take practical steps to monitor and manage our environmental impacts by optimizing energy efficiency, water conservation, and waste management, all with the employee experience in mind.

Building for the future

Northwestern Mutual corporate campus landscapes are designed to enhance biodiversity, support ecosystem health, and create vibrant environments. 2025 marks the two-year anniversary of starting the North Office Building project at our corporate headquarters in Milwaukee. Extensive renovations emphasize sustainability, featuring advanced energy measurement, creative reuse of materials, and the use of lower environmental impact materials. We also continue to meet and exceed our project goals of contracting with local, small business enterprises for construction and professional services.

Optimizing water use and diverting waste

We integrate water conservation into our office building design. We also aim to reduce waste and divert it from landfills through site-based initiatives. We extend the lifespan of our materials and equipment by reusing and repurposing what we already have.

Enhancing the on-campus experience

Our campuses are more than just physical spaces—they're ecosystems designed to foster connection, creativity, and well-being. In the spirit of promoting employee physical and mental health, we offer opportunities to connect with nature across our campuses.
